ARD strives to reduce malnutrition, improve education, expand access to water, healthcare, and livelihoods, and promote human rights, gender equality, and environmental sustainability. Through advocacy, capacity building, and disaster preparedness, ARD empowers vulnerable communities for a resilient and self-sufficient future.

Recently Implemented Projects

SUPPORTING LOCAL YOUTH ACTIVITIES TO PROMOTE PEACEBUILDING AND SOCIAL INTEGRATION                                         

ARD received an assignment from COOPI which was supported by UNHCR under the livelihood project. The objective of the assignment was to support local youth activities and promote peace building and social integration of the refugees, returnees, IDPs, and host communities. ARD was assigned to organize and conduct sports competitions and traditional heritage festivals for the Returnees, Refugees, IDPs and Host Community youths in Mogadishu.

RAPID HUMANITARIAN SITUATION ANALYSIS FOR GALGADUUD - SOMALIA

ARD received fund from Welthungerhilfe (WHH) to conduct rapid humanitarian situation analysis in Galguduud region specifically in Dhusamareb, Abudwak and Guricel. The aim was to support the survival of drought-affected target populations in Galgaduud region. Under this project, ARD also supported 150 households of drought-affected vulnerable people with an unconditional cash transfer as an emergency response to the drought.

MITIGATE WORST EFFECTS OF WATER SCARCITY AND HUNGER IN SUB-SAHARAN COUNTRIES                                        

ARD, with funding from Welthungerhilfe (WHH) through the GFFO-supported project, has been working to mitigate the worst effects of water scarcity and hunger in Sub-Saharan Africa. In Somalia’s Abudwak district, Galguduud region, ARD has provided critical support to drought-affected communities through fodder distributions, menstrual hygiene kits, hygiene promotion, and unconditional cash transfers. Key achievements include:

  • 286 drought-affected pastoralists received emergency animal feed.
  • 1,541 vulnerable households in IDP camps and rural areas benefited from unconditional cash transfers.
  • 1,314 women and girls gained access to essential menstrual hygiene materials.
